Growing up:
Blake Lively is the youngest daughter of actors Elaine and Ernie Lively. Her sisters Lori, Robyn and brothers Eric and Jason, all are associated with the entertainment business. Even her brother-in law, Bart Johnson is famous as a star featuring in the High School Musical. She has been raised as a Southern Baptist.

Career:
Lively was home schooled along with her future co-actor and beau Penn Badgley, after which she went to Burbank High School in Burbank where she was in the choir as well as in the cheerleading team. In total she went to around thirteen schools and even wished to attend Stanford University but soon was drawn into acting by her brother whose agent got her into auditions. She soon bagged the role in the movie ‘The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.’ For which she got nominated for “Choice Movie Breakout-Female” in the teen Choice awards for her role as Bridget. The character was followed up again by her in the movie’s sequel in 2008 named The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2.

Before this movie, in 1998, Blake Lively had also done a small role in Sandman, followed by Accepted, Simon Says, Elvis and Annaelle, all came in 2006. For the movie Accepted she achieved the Breakthrough Award from Hollywood Life in December of 2006.

Gossip Girl:
In September 2007, came the series Gossip Girl, in which she is playing the prominent role of Serena Van der Woodsen, a rich, popular and easy going high school girl living in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Blair Waldorf is her best friend, and she has romantic affairs with Nate Archibald, Dan Humphrey etc. People are often jealous of her because of her high position and the fact that everything comes so easily to Serena.
